Case Study

vCreative: Putting a labor of love in the right hands

As the dominant player in radio broadcasting workflow management, vCreative powers most of America’s largest radio stations. But the company’s roots are as a small family-style business. Founder Jinny Laderer was working in the industry when she and her husband, the CTO, developed version one of the software. What started as a time-saving tool to help Jinny spend more time with their six children became an entrepreneurial success story.

The pair bootstrapped the company with credit card loans and a second mortgage and, over the course of a decade, emerged as market leaders. Jinny was approached many times by buyers but, as someone who considers her clients to be close friends and her team to be family, she never felt comfortable selling - until she met Banyan. Several years later, the company continues to thrive and Jinny and her husband have embarked on their next chapter.

“After vetting dozens of potential partners over the years, I came to see that there are major philosophical differences between traditional investors and my goals for future growth. When I met Banyan, I quickly realized that our business vision and philosophies lined up exactly.”

Facilitating a seamless transition

Jinny wasn’t sure about her exact timing to exit the business but after two years, with the addition of two well-respected industry leaders, she felt the business was in good hands and made the transition to the role of President Emeritus.

Enabling the sales and marketing team

The company’s success was driven by sheer entrepreneurial grit. To shift to true sales scalability, we introduced best-in-class sales processes and helped recruit great talent. The team was then equipped to scale beyond what was once an individual effort.

Sustaining product growth for the long term

Banyan assisted vCreative in their vision and commitment to building a new version of their flagship product in order to better address evolving customer needs. With new product leadership and talent, a product roadmap, an expanded market that includes television broadcasting, and more, vCreative is set up for ongoing success.
